As home to the only two producing gold mines in the area, Balmertown is the economic backbone of the Red Lake region. With a population of around 1,700, Balmertown was the first planned community in the Red Lake District. This quiet community located off of highway 125 may also serve as one of the prominent recreational hubs of the area.
