Community of Ear Falls

As the first community you will encounter in the Red Lake Touring Region, Ear Falls has an array of activities for everyone. The town of Ear Falls, with about 1,200 residents, is conveniently located along highway 105. Be sure to keep your binoculars handy as this area has the distinction of being the Bald Eagle Capital of North America. The shores of the English River and Lac Seul provide a natural habitat for this majestic and powerful creature.

Ear Falls’ beautiful waterfront park and visitor information centre is an ideal location for picnics and family gatherings. It boasts a sandy beach with public washrooms and change room facilities. This area is also home to the annual Trout Forest Music Festival, a folk festival that brings visitors from across the country.

Tee up for a challenging round of golf at the Ear Falls Golf and Country Club. This 9-hole course was carved from a scenic northern forest of spruce and pine and has rolling fairways with a few steep hills for added difficulty. A river separates the 7th, 8th, and 9th holes for an extra challenge and forces golfers to save their best play for the three final holes. If you’re looking to perfect your swing or maybe blow off a little steam, try the driving range.

Even if you’re a beginner golfer or an avid veteran of the game, be sure to visit the Pro Shop. It offers clothing and accessories, as well as club rentals and pull or power cart rentals. The clubhouse boasts a licensed lounge, banquet facilities, an outdoor patio, and full service dining. Tee times are dawn to dusk daily from May through September.

Just north of Ear Falls is Pakwash Provincial Park and the Griffith Mine Heritage Trail. Pakwash features 1.5 km of sandy beach on the shores of shallow and warm Pakwash Lake. There are 69 camp sites with tenting and electrical RV sites. The Griffith Mine features a network of trails that span the entire area of the former mine and past the shores of Bruce Lake. Keep a lookout for wildlife - the natural rehabilitation of the site has created a home for many species.
