The Municipality of Red Lake is home to about 4,700 residents and includes the communities of Red Lake, Balmertown, Cochenour, Madsen/Starratt-Olsen and McKenzie Island. It is located 170 km (100 miles) north of the Trans-Canada Highway by Ontario Highway 105. The area boasts a thriving tourism industry and offers a number of unique wilderness experiences.
